Changing the world : a dream or a reality ?

Everyone of us has that dream of changing the world , but are we really doing something about it ? If you think that liking a post on facebook or changing your profile picture can turn tables then you’re wrong !

It is undeniable as a truth that youth are the genuine change makers of the world, imagine only  if we knew how much our actions can bring progress to humanity and to the universe as a whole and sometimes it only starts with  a simple Idea …

Let’s take a small trip back to history : 1948 ? Probably this date doesn”t occupy a space in your memory, yet it has marked the life of so many people around the world until nowadays .

It is when Students from seven nations: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden believed that changing the world is in fact a tangible goal . They came together to form an organisation called AIESEC.

After world war two , the world became a devastated place for human beings to live in . Conflicts marked the daily news and people were left hopeless to restore faith in mutual understanding .  Therefore , the group of youth , from different backgrounds yet united for one aim which is  to foster the cultural understanding in the world by believing in the potential of students and their ability to be part of peacemakers .

Our vision which is ” Peace and fulfillment of humankind’s potential” tells how much Conflict resolution through cultural understanding means to us as an international organisation .

Since then , AIESEC has delivered more than +1.000.000 Exchange opportunities for young people in more than 100 countries around the world while participating in projects that has affected millions of people , from helping refugees to saving the nature to teaching kids in rural areas …

All these Initiatives come under one of  AIESEC ‘s product   ”Global Volunteer” which gives any youth from around the world the chance  to participate in a 6 to 8 weeks internship in more than 126 country around the world and provides them with  the ability to choose the best experience to start their  path to changing the world .

In 2015 , AIESEC has started a cooperation with the united nations to actively work on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known  as the Global Goals, which are a set of 17 Goal aiming to make a world a better place through a universal call to action based on international initiatives of governments , organisations and the civic society to tackle the genuine problem that our planet is facing nowadays .

Since then , AIESEC has given the chance to millions of change makers around the world to be part of the change through participating in volunteer projects around the world that serve as a solution for one of these goals .

It is important to believe that change does not come to us willingly , it is our mission to make it happen . We only have to believe that our actions no matter how small they may seem but they can change and impact a lot of people around the world .

If you’re seeking to write an  adventure toward change , Do not hesitate to be part of it here!
